DME – Home Modification

General Responsibilities

Responsible for performing a variety of duties during the course of the day including providing information on Durable Medical Equipment to staff, referral source and injured worker.  Working closely with referral source, injured worker and DME provider to coordinate smooth acquisition and delivery of DME in a timely fashion.

  • Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:  
  • Confidentiality of all data, including injured worker’s demographics, employee and operations data.
  • Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
  • Supports and participates in common teamwork:
  • Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.
  • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
  • Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
  • Promotes positive public relations with co-workers, referral sources and DME providers.
  • Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

Essential Duties

  • ·         Demonstrates excellent customer service, and respect for customers, co-workers, and management.
  • Take DME referrals as needed.
  • Acknowledge receipt of referral and active status of DME to referral source.
  • Update referral source ongoing until DME has been delivered.
  • Provide and receive written authorization from payor source prior to delivery of equipment.
  • Work closely with referral source, injured worker and DME provider to ensure appropriate DME is delivered in specified time frame.
  • Confirm delivery of DME with provider, referral source and injured worker.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by contacting injured worker and referral source.
  • Expand current list of DME providers and secure best possible pricing for equipment for Home Care Connect.
  • Ensure DME billing is accurate by providing pricing to Billing Department.
  • Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the office as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  • Respond to inquiries relating to his/her particular area within given timeframes and within established policy.
  • Duties may include taking call on weekends, for which compensation will be provided.

Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances.

Basic Qualifications

Education/Training: A high school diploma and some college credit and/or experience.

Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; knowledge of medical terminology; good interpersonal relations and communicative skills; moderate PC skills with emphasis on accuracy; good organizational skills.

Experience: Health Care, Home Modification, or Property Adjusting experience preferred.

Hearing includes perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

The employee frequently is required to sit, move throughout the office, use hands to type, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.
